Changing course
We want to ensure a sustainable future for the water industry in England and Wales.
Our April 2010 publication, Changing Course, sets out our views on addressing the current challenges faced by the UK water industry. These challenges include maintaining and improving the reliability of the network, significantly reducing carbon emissions, improving operational performance and keeping prices at affordable levels.
In Changing Course, we propose a number of changes for how water companies operate and for the policy and regulatory frameworks which have existed since privatisation over 20 years ago. Without such changes, we believe customers will face higher bills, carbon emissions will rise, and the financial sustainability of the industry will become more uncertain.
