Summer Placements
Our summer placements are 8 or 12 week placements between June and August that are available for students who are currently studying an undergraduate degree.
They are designed to give you a range of skills and experience to complement your current university studies.
We'll welcome you into our wonderful world of water. Every day you’ll take steps to make our small corner of the world that little bit better.

Finance Summer Placement
Our Finance Summer Placements Programme offers the perfect blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the core of our business and will give you an insight into four different disciplines of Finance, through three business placements.
Technology Summer Placement
Our Technology Summer Placements Programme offers the perfect blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the core of our business.
The programme provides the opportunity to learn how to support and drive technological change through unique placements, allowing you to gain exposure to various teams within our Technology department.
Strategy and Regulation Summer Placement
The programme comprises of placements across our Economic Regulation, Strategy, Sustainability and Transformation teams, which you will have the opportunity to shape.
This placement will give you a real insight into our business and provide you the opportunity to learn about our strategic, regulatory and sustainability agendas.
Legal Summer Placement
Our Legal Summer Placements Programme provides exposure to various legal areas, such as corporate law, compliance, and regulatory affairs, through real-life projects.
The program is designed for students studying law or related fields, offering professional development opportunities in a dynamic working environment.
Human Resources and Communications
Our HR and communications Summer Placements Programme offers real-life HR and communications projects.
Open to students in related fields, it provides opportunities for professional growth, practical experience in HR practices, and impactful work within a supportive and dynamic environment.
Engineering Design Summer Placement
Our Engineering Design Summer Placements Programme offers the perfect blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the frontline and the core of our business.
The programme will enable you to spend time in both our engineering design and capital programme delivery teams covering the end-to-end process of the project and programme life cycles across the water/waste network, and the water/waste treatment facilities.
Project Management Summer Placement
Our Summer Placements Project Management Programme offers the perfect blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the frontline and the core of our business.
The programme will enable you to work on a range of projects from delivering corporate strategic objectives to significant technology/system changes that support Severn Trent’s strategic goals.
Innovation Science Summer Placement
Our Innovation Science Summer Placements Program offers hands-on experience in cutting edge projects focused on innovation and sustainability in water and wastewater services.
Participants will develop new technologies and collaborate with cross-functional teams while gaining valuable skills in data analysis, project management and regulatory compliance.
Data Science Summer Placement
Our Technology (Data Science) Summer Placements Programme offers the perfect blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the core of our business.
As a TechOps Desktop Analyst you’ll have the opportunity to solve business challenges during technology incidents and providing tech solutions for our colleagues.
Business Functions Summer Placement
Our Business Functions Summer Placements Programme offers a chance to gain hands-on experience in business operations.
The program focusses on professional development through real-life projects, mentorship, and exposure to key business areas like operations, customer service and project management. It encourages applicants with diverse backgrounds, a passion for innovation, and strong problem solving skills to apply.
Commercial and Performance Summer Placement
Our Commercial, Performance and Regulatory Summer Placements Programme Offers the opportunity to spend time in the Commercial, Charges and Assurance teams within Developer Services Central function understanding governance structures and commercial performance frameworks.
