Welcome to our 2024 Sustainability Report

The report outlines our long-term environmental, social and governance commitments and highlights progress against our sustainability objectives for the year. The report aligns with our Corporate Strategy, ‘performance driven, sustainability led’, and brings the strategy to life using case studies of our work.

Working alongside partners such as World’s Largest Lesson, Millennium Point, Tyseley Energy Park, Birmingham & Black Country Wildlife Trust and Birmingham City Council, we worked with 19 local primary schools to help them develop their ideas for practical solutions that could be implemented locally, to tackle one of five climate challenges.

The themes were:

  • Protect and Restore Nature
  • Clean Our Air
  • Revive Our Water
  • Build a Waste-Free World
  • Fix Our Climate

 

As well as working with the students and providing the prizes for the event, we were part of the judging panel as the schools pitched their ideas to tackle climate change. The winning school was Lea Forest Academy with their Spartacus Canal Sweeper idea - a small automated boat designed to clean plastics from Birmingham’s thousands of miles of canals.

 

We have maintained our relationships with the schools through our Education and Societal Strategy programmes following the conclusion of this amazing event.
